Welcome to my newsy new newsletter, The Neill Cameron News! Basically, since an idiot manchild bought my preferred social media platform and seems intent on doing what can really only be called ‘a Liz Truss’ on it, I thought it might be an idea to have some kind of a backup way of sharing news about what I’m up to, upcoming projects, that kind of stuff.
Let’s kick things off by sharing a little look at my new story The Weirding Waves, which begins this very week in The Phoenix! Up above is the first (unlettered) page, and here are some of the characters you’ll meet. Here we have…
Sana (l) and Yngrid (r), who some of you may remember from my previous story The Twisting Temple. If you missed that, don’t worry: it’s pretty straightforward, they are a pair of plucky young adventurers on an ongoing mission to Kill Their Dad. Which, okay, sounds bad, but it turns out their dad is this guy:
THE DEMON KING, LORD TRIARCHUS, EMPEROR OF THE WORLD and general bad egg. So I think we have to assume they have their reasons. If you did read The Twisting Temple, you’ll also have met an All-Powerful Magical Tiger that Sana and Yngrid have recruited to their cause. He’s still around, but in this new one he undergoes some changes, and ends up looking more like…
Pretty cute, right? And here is Yngrid carrying him around like a TINY FLUFFY BABY.
Honestly if that doesn’t convince you to read this comic I don’t know what possibly could.
Also, there are Crab People.
I’m having so much fun with these stories; they’re a chance to really, if you’ll forgive my pretentiousness, Play With The Form. To try and do some really fun exciting stuff in a comic for kids, that only comics can do.
As I say, it starts in this week’s issue of The Phoenix. Do check it out!
