You might have heard me mention this already, but it would seem kind of weird not to talk about it on the actual Neill Cameron Newsletter: Mega Robo Bros FINAL FORM is OUT NOW! The finale of the decade-long, eight-book epic comics saga of Alex and Freddy should, as we speak, be Available In All Good Bookshops. What are you doing sitting here? Quick, get along to All Good Bookshops!
Here are a few nice things people have said about it. From a review by Andrea Reece on LoveReading4 Kids:
And here’s some nice words from Page 45 on instagram:
And here’s are some absurdly nice things that some incredible people have said over on Bluesky that I am sharing here because - well, because I have no shame, obviously:
Okay, that is probably more than enough. Tl;dr: this book means a lot to me, and I just really am trying to do everything I can to help it Find Its Audience.
Some POSSIBLY PROMISING NEWS on that front, although let’s all steady on and not get carried away and accidentally jinx anything, is that upon release it achieved a career-first for me and became a #1 Amazon Best Seller!
* …in the quite specific sub-category of Comics & Graphic Novels For Young Adults, admittedly. But it still counts! I got the little orange thing! It is by some distance I think the best any of my books have ever done on there - in fact, (quickly checks), at time of writing it’s still there. Which is nice, and gratifying, although please remember that the stated policy of this newsletter is to wherever possible SUPPORT YOU LOCAL INDEPENDENT BOOKSELLERS. (By buying my books from them.)
OTHER NEWS: I had a fantastic day on Saturday with the aforementioned
at the inaugural Waterstones Children’s Books Festival in Lincoln, where we put on a big theatre show for 600-odd kids, made a lot of noise and drew a load of absolute nonsense. I will not begin to attempt to describe it, other than to say it is always such a treat to do these events with Jamie, who is (obviously) The Best. Thanks for having us Waterstones, thanks for having us Lincoln, and thanks so much to everyone who came along and gave us so much love and enthusiasm and completely demented ideas for things to draw.OTHER NEWS! I had a lovely chat with
recently, all about writing, drawing, comics and why they are having a bit of a moment, all that good stuff. You can go and watch and listen to it there! I feel I should perhaps point out that I hadn’t realised it was a video podcast so I was, uh, ‘Dressed For Audio’. By which I mean, QUITE SCRUFFY. But hey, consider it a thrilling behind-the-scenes peek at the unvarnished reality of a middle-aged comics artist.
Next week! The festivities continue, with a Mega Robo Bros FINAL FORM LAUNCH PARTY at the brilliant Mr B’s Emporium in Bath!
Free to attend, you just need to book a spot so they know the numbers. Mr B’s is a wonderful shop and I’m really excited to have this celebration in Alex and Freddy’s honour there, so if you have any young MRB fans in the family and are remotely in the area, I encourage you to come along! I think it should be really fun and is, by definition, a once-in-a-lifetime event. See you there I hope! Okay thanks bye xx
We loved chatting to you! And congratulations on Final Form - we bought it for our kids in half term and they've devoured it.
