I’ve had a very lovely couple of weeks off - and I mean properly *off*. Climbing mountains, playing games, reading books, spending time with my family and actually enjoying life, that kind of thing. Anyway, it is time to cut all THAT nonsense out, because it is 2025! And let me tell you, your old friend Neill Cameron has got QUITE A LOT GOING ON in 2025. As a subscriber to the Neill Cameron Newsletter it occurred to me that you may be interested in some of this, so here are a few key Dates For Your Diary over the next few months…
JANUARY: DONUT SQUAD COMIC MASTERCLASS!
We have done a few of these online digital workshops, and I think they have all been unfailingly pretty fun, but this one I think should be particularly wild. Last time we learned how to draw some of the characters from Donut Squad and made up a few new ones for good measure, and this time we’re going to be putting it all together, pulling back the curtain and revealing how to make your OWN Donut Squad comics. My goal is to do a whole batch of Donut Squad strips, live on the spot, working off of kids’ suggestions. Just imagine the insanity! Actually you don’t have to imagine it. You can get tickets now! Sat 18th January, 10:00am GMT, The Internet. See you there!
FEBRUARY: FINAL FORM!
A decade’s-worth of storytelling comes to a head, giant crazy things unfold and the world will never be the same, as the final volume of Mega Robo Bros is released! Available to pre-order now, check out my linktree for, well, all the links. There will be lots of EXCITING FESTIVITIES happening around the release, of which more details will be forthcoming!
One thing that’s announced already: myself and the wonder, the one and only, the brilliant Jamie Smart will be doing a stage show together at the Waterstones Children’s Book Festival in Lincoln, which based on previous experience I think I can safely promise will be absolute carnage, in the best possible way. Saturday 15th Feb, Lincoln, tickets via the linktree!
MARCH: SCIENCE??
I will be back at the Oxford Science Bazaar in March, doing a whole day of workshops, in collaboration with the academics of Oxford Brookes University. I’ve done this event for the last couple of years, it is SO fun, and I have some very ambitious and possibly completely impractically awesome plans for this one. And it’s all free! I think you just need to book a spot for popular sessions which, at the risk of sounding braggy, mine have in the past tended to be. Book via the website!
There’s another INCREDIBLY fun thing coming up later in March, which I am already ludicrously excited about (and concocting EVEN MORE impractically awesome plans for), but I believe that has not been announced yet, so I will shut up about it for now. But I will just say, if you are in or near London, and you have kids who are interested in reading or making comics: 23 MARCH. SAVE THE DATE. More to follow!
MAY: DONUTMAGEDDON!
This is the big month. The first Donut Squad book comes out - available to pre-order now in both regular and Waterstones Exclusive Limited With Stickers editions! - and I am going to be spending pretty much the whole month at festivals and conventions and bookshops, and, basically, attempting to keep up as these little round weirdoes take their whole ‘taking over the world schtick’ out of the realm of fiction and prove surprisingly effective at it in Actual Reality. Again, lots of EXCITING FESTIVITIES planned that aren’t announced yet, I will try and share all the details here well in advance!
JUNE: I DON’T KNOW, MAYBE I COULD GET A DAY OFF?
Lol, dream on buddy. These donuts ain’t going to draw themselves!
On which note: actually that’s a good point, I should probably go and draw some donuts. I will just leave you with, as a thank you for sitting through all those plugs, some fun drawings of Donuts meeting Daleks.
Okay thanks bye xx
