I found these old ‘Bargain Basement Bots’ strips that I drew for the Phoenix approximately one million years ago, and as there is I think effectively zero chance of them ever being collected or reprinted, I thought I might share them with you here! I like them, they’re fun, kind of a weird MRB / proto-Donut Squad hybrid. Come back for more here, every week, for a little while! Probably! Unless I forget!
ANYWAY:
Speaking of Bots that are Bargains…
Don’t forget that NEMESIS, the seventh and penultimate volume in the Mega Robo Bros saga, is available to pre-order now! I’ve even made a handy linktree of all the places you can get it, to make it easy for you! Two hundred plus pages of awesome robot comics, for a mere £9.99? That is the very DEFINITION of Bargain Basement Bots right there, and thereby enough of a hook for me to hang this newsletter on? MAYBE?
MEANWHILE ON THE ROAD:
I have now made a handy TOUR page on my website to list all the places I’ll be out and about on the road this year! NEW EVENT that’s been announced since we last spoke: I’ll be at Fourbears Book Fest in Reading, on the 18th May, doing a Mega Robo Comics Workshop. Come along if you’re in the area! Details and tickets here!
More dates TBA soon!
ONE LAST THING
I am currently out on the road and don’t have the organisational wherewithal to sort out all the permissions to share them here - you can check out the current state of my Twitter or Instagram for a taster - but I just wanted to say a giant thank you to everyone who shared their pictures yesterday of their kids heading out for World Book Day dressed up as Alex and / or Freddy. There were some truly incredible creations, and it really is the most amazing thing to see. It’s become a really special day I think for a lot of children’s authors, kind of a Christmas morning but instead of presents it’s just sheer adorable heartwarmingness. God bless you all, and your giant papier-mâché heads. OKAY BYE ❤️
